Shepard Fairey is a graphic designer, Illustrator and street artist who is the father of the "André the Giant Has a Posse" campaign and following.
Fairey plays with a thing called phenomenology, which in its simplest form is using a device that attracts your attention to something you wouldn't often notice in the environment, therefore reawakening your senses.
For example if you saw a poster of André stuck high up on a bridge would it catch your eye more than just the bridge, and if you saw the same poster elsewhere would you question why it is there not trying to sell you anything?
Shepard Fairey is also now more widely known for his design work for the Obama election posters!
