Graffiti using its environement - Banksy
Banksy is now dare I say it the most famous graffiti artist to date. His ethos on Graffiti and street art is completely radical, he creates art that makes you use you think and look at places you would never usually look in your everyday environment.
“I still paint graffiti because I genuinely think the side of a canal is a more interesting place to have art than a museum,” - Banksy recently quoted in times magazine after being questioned why he still paints in obscure usually unseen places.
This idea of drawing peoples attention to walls and objects usually unseen in everyday life links in with Shepard Faireys OBEY campaign and Phenomenology.
Banksy puts the environment where his street art is to full use in his work often including such items as drain pipes and cracks in walls. Here are some examples!
